In most
applications discussed on this website and passive fire
protection installation in general penetration seals are
important. Irrespective of whether some one is using a
DuraSystems product or system, the importance of sealing any
gaps in fire resisting construction is vital to ensure the
integrity of the system. Such gaps are typically at service
penetrations through walls, floors and ceilings and would also
include gaps left for structural movement and gaps due to
installation tolerances.
Every service
passing through fire resistant building elements reacts in a
different way in the event of a fire, so there is no single
solution or product that will protect all services. Recognizing
this, DuraSystems provides the following range of effective
solutions to seal gaps at service penetrations:
 |
DuraSTOP |
 |
DuraSTOP is an
energy absorbing compound system used to form seals around
penetrations through fire and blast resistant walls, floors and
ceilings. Performing equally well is concrete or masonry
structures and DuraSystems proprietary systems.
DuraSTOP
retains its mechanical strength during a fire and will withstand
vibration and expansion. Its seal is water and gas tight and
will withstand the thermal shock and erosive action of a hose
stream of water in the event of a fire.
DuraSTOP’s
energy absorbing heat sink properties appreciably delay the
conduction of heat along cable trays, cables, conduit, pipes and
other metal penetrations requiring sealing. This product will
also stop the passage of chlorine and toxic gases generated by a
fire there by reducing the risks to people and property.
DuraSTOP has
been extensively tested and is non combustible. These tests
include fire tests up to 4 hours of protection to ASTM E119. DuraSTOP
is the product of choice of penetrations.

PROMASEAL
Pillows |
 |
PROMASEAL Pillows maintains the fire resistance of walls where
openings services are located. The pillows can provide
permanent protection from the spread of fire; however they are
ideally used in temporary opening requiring fire protection.
The
compressible fire stopping pillows are made from quality woven
envelopes, encasing a fire resistant material. Simple to
install, reusable and maintenance free makes these the idea
solution for your penetration requirements.
The
PROMASEAL Pillows are available in three convenient sizes:
Large 330mm x
200mm x 45 mm
Small 300mm x
200mm x 20 mm
Sausage 330mm x
50mm x 20 mm

PROMASEAL |
 |
PROMASEAL is an intumescent sealant used to close gaps around
mechanical and electrical services fire resistant floor and wall
joints and partition joints.
Intumescent sealants such as PROMASEAL have excellent adhesive
properties for sealing of joints and penetration for up to 4
hours. It bonds to dust-free masonry, concrete, calcium
silicate boards, gypsum, metal and cable covering. The product
remains flexible after curing to accommodate thermal expansion.
PROMASEAL is available in standard 310mm cartridges.

Unicollars |
 |
It has
been shown that plastic pipe penetrating fire barriers present a
potential for fire to pass from one side to the other when the
plastic melts and burns away. All building regulations specify
that the fire rating of the separating building element must not
be impaired by services that pass through them. That is why the
PROMASEAL Unicollar was developed.
The
Unicollar is the latest generation of retrofit fire collars
designed to protect plastic pipes penetrating fire rated
elements of building construction. The collar is designed to
cut and snapped to the required length. The multiple length
collar can be sized to fit most applications thus requiring only
one product. Each box is equivalent to 5 110mm OD collars.
