BESSY
BESSY is a fire separation system developed specifically to address fire separation requirements within battery energy storage system layouts. The system is configured to separate battery units, rooms, or zones using passive fire-rated assemblies.

Fire separation systems for battery energy storage layouts
BESSY provides passive fire separation within battery energy storage system installations. The system is designed to help compartmentalize layouts and limit fire spread between battery units, rooms or zones.
System overview:
BESSY systems are configured using fire-resistant barrier assemblies designed to integrate into common BESS layouts. Assemblies can be adapted to support different spacing, enclosure, and separation requirements based on project configuration.
Introducing the three levels of fire protection now available with the BESSY system:
BESSY SF
Our most tried and tested system offers stability and integrity for 6 hours, along with simplicity in installation and removal. BESSY SF is a modified version of our highly successful DuraBarrier SF, used for exterior transformer fire separation.
BESSY 120
This 2-hour fire rated barrier is based on our UL/ULC listed non-load bearing wall. Interlocking tongue and groove joints allow BESSY 120 to be easily installed and removed.
BESSY 240
Based on our UL/ULC 4-hour listed fire barrier, BESSY 240 is perfect for applications requiring greater thermal protection where space is limited. The modular design provides superior fire resistance while allowing simple installation and removal.
Typical applications include:
Separation between battery units or racks
Fire-rated divisions within BESS rooms
Containerized or building-based BESS layouts
New installations and retrofits
FAQ
Customers frequently ask.
What testing and certifications support BESSY?

BESSY is supported by testing to UL/ULC and ASTM standards. Listings and documentation are available to assist with engineering review, permitting, and specification requirements.
How do I know which BESSY configuration I need?

Configuration depends on separation distance, site layout, exposure conditions, and project requirements. Our engineering team reviews these factors and recommends the most appropriate BESSY configuration for each application.
What information do you need to provide a quote or specification?

Typical information includes site drawings or sketches, equipment spacing, desired separation performance, local code considerations, and any structural or foundation constraints. The more detail you can share, the more precise our recommendations will be.
Do you provide engineering support during installation?

Yes. We provide technical guidance, documentation, and clarification during installation to help ensure BESSY is installed as designed and performs as intended in field conditions.
