Our high security blast walls and doors have been tested with various quantities of explosives to simulate real world scenarios. For example, to simulate a car bomb, 440lbs of TNT was exploded at a distance of 22 yards from a high security blast wall & door. This blast resulted in a large pressure wave of 2.33 bar. The high security blast wall & door achieved the required level of protection and the door remained operational.
High security blast walls & doors can be designed to your specific needs and are easy to install and relatively light weight. DuraSystems can also provide blast and fire resistant ventilation duct systems to help ensure fresh air is available in safe rooms and emergency egress routes in the event of an explosion.

Vertical and horizontal fire separations utilizing DuraSteel impact resistant sheets protect your personnel and equipment from hydrocarbon fire exposures.
The passive fire protection provided by hydrocarbon fire rated walls and ceilings is critical for the protection of personnel and vital equipment in petrochemical facilities. The rapid temperature rise of a hydrocarbon fire means personnel need time to escape from the fire and collateral damage to nearby equipment needs to be limited. Recent accidents have demonstrated the importance of separating processing equipment and compartmentalizing the hydrocarbon processing areas to allow the active fire suppression systems to work in conjunction with the passive fire protection systems.
Hydrocarbon fires are often preceded by equipment explosion or pipe rupture which can cause extensive damage to surrounding equipment and even destroy active fire suppression systems. This chain reaction of events can lead to the rapid spread of the fire. To help prevent these situations from becoming unmitigated disasters, DuraSystems can provide H0, H60 and H120 hydrocarbon fire rated walls with an optional blast rating of up to 2 bar over pressure.
Jet fire resistance is often required in specific areas of hydrocarbon facilities. Optional jet fire ratings up to J120 can be provided for DuraSystems’ hydrocarbon fire rated systems.
Available in a standard G90/Z275 galvanized or optional 316 stainless steel finish, DuraSystems’ Hydrocarbon Fire Rated systems can be provided with various top coats to meet your project’s specified materials and finishes schedule.
Verification of the performance of DuraSystems’ hydrocarbon fire rated systems is provided by internationally recognized and accepted Lloyds Register Type Approvals for fire, blast, and jet fire ratings.
DuraSystems’ Lloyds Register Type Approval hydrocarbon fire rated walls and ceilings in configurations of H0, H60 or H120 are available with enhanced blast and jet fire ratings to help keep your hydrocarbon facilities safe in the event of fire.
Commercial and Industrial Fire and Blast Doors
DuraSystems’ fire and blast resistant doors are designed and tested for use in DuraSystems’ fire and blast walls and barriers, but can also be used in other fire rated assemblies.
Fire and blast walls typically require door openings to allow personnel to access adjacent compartments and to allow for egress in emergency situations. To meet the code requirements, doors need to be tested in the wall assembly design to ensure compliance.
To meet this requirement, DuraSystems’ doors are tested in DuraSytems’ walls and barriers.
DuraSystems offers single and twin door configurations that range from standard hollow metal commercial fire doors and frames, UL rated for up to 3 hours, to custom industrial fire and blast doors rated for 2 hour hydrocarbon fire and blast pressures up to 1.52 bar into the door frame.
DuraSystems’ doors are available in a variety of finishes including galvanized, prime coat, a finish coat to your specifications, and 316 stainless steel.
DuraSystems can provide commercial door sets including all hardware to meet project specific requirements for high security sites. To help keep your facilities secure, DuraSystems can prep the door sets so that your confidential hardware can be easily installed on site.
Due to the specialty nature of DuraSystems industrial blast doors, the doors are shipped pre-hung with all hardware installed and tested for operation prior to leaving the factory.

Listed Firestop Systems With Ratings Up to 4 hours
Through penetration fire stop systems are designed for use in DuraSystems’ fire rated walls and ceilings as well as in concrete and masonry construction.
Anytime a fire rated horizontal or vertical fire separation is installed, there is a strong likelihood that building services such as piping or cabling will need to pass through the fire separation. DuraSystems has developed through-penetration firestops to effectively seal these service penetrations.
dDuraS.T.O.P. Firestop Mortar
DuraS.T.O.P. is a proprietary cementitious firestop material that has been successfully used for over 20 years. DuraS.T.O.P. penetration seals are fire rated up to 4 hours for a variety of penetrations including cables, cable trays, busways, copper and steel pipes, DuraDucts, fire rated cable tray enclosures, and structural steel sections. DuraS.T.O.P. has also been blast tested in a variety of configurations.
Penetrations often need to move independently of the fire separation due to seismic events, expansion, contraction and vibrations in process piping. To address this difficult issue, DuraSystems developed FGC gasket which, when used in conjunction with DuraS.T.O.P., allows for penetrant movement in a through-penetration firestop. FGC gasket provides for lateral and axial movement of pipes with listed system fire ratings of up to 3 hours. The FGC gasket is fire tested for lateral movement of up to 5/8”.
DuraSystems’ through penetration fire stop systems complete and maintain the listings of DuraSystems’ fire rated walls and ceilings and can also be used in masonry or concrete fire separations.
